Nanaimo RCMP looking for witnesses in possible hit and run

NANAIMO — The victim of a suspected hit and run can’t remember what happened to him early Saturday morning.

The cyclist, 53, was found by a pair of pedestrians around 3 a.m. at Bowen Road and Doric Avenue, across from Bowen Park.

He had broken bone in his shoulder, along with cuts and a suspected concussion, according to Nanaimo RCMP.

Investigators think a vehicle hit the rear of his bike, but they need any witnesses to come forward to help piece together exactly what happened.

The best guess is that the incident happened within one hour of the man being found.

As of Wednesday, the victim was still in Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.
