NANAIMO – Game 3 was another tight contest with the Powell River Kings taking it 3-1.

They now have a 2-1 series lead in the best of seven Island Division semi final against the Clippers.

Nanaimo got off to a great start with a goal by Gunnar Wegleitner eight minutes into the contest.

Minutes later Neal Samanski tied the game on a Kings power play.

Samanski scored another power play goal midway through the second period on a rebound and Levi Glasman jammed home a loose puck a few minutes later.

Jordan Naylor and the Kings Mitch Adamyk played shutout hockey the rest of the way with the final shots finishing 26-21 for Powell River.

Nanaimo went 0/4 on the power play while the Kings finished 2/3.

Monday’s Three Stars were Neal Samanski (2g), Mitchell Williams (2a), and Zack Dallazanna (0pts).

Game 4 of the series goes Tuesday at Frank Crane Arena 7 p.m.
