Nanaimo Diamonds U16B girls fastball team wins bronze medal at White Rock tournament

The U16B Nanaimo Diamonds beat Prince George 8-1 in the bronze medal game at the South Surrey/White Rock spring tournament on SundayLeslee Johnson

WHITE ROCK — The Nanaimo Diamonds U16B girls fastball team won a bronze medal at a spring tournament over the weekend.
 
During the round robin the girls went 2-2, and were seeded sixth going into the medal round.
 
Nanaimo upset third seeded Langley, before losing to the eventual champions from Abbotsford.
 
That put the Diamonds into the bronze medal game which they won 8-1 over a team from Prince George.
 
In the round robin Maranda Eby, Payton Joyce, Gracie Alyward, and Kaitlin Pierce won the game MVP awards.
 
There were no MVP's handed out in the medal round.
