Advance voting for Nanaimo-Ladysmith byelection starts Friday

NANAIMO — Advance voting begins Friday for the sixth election in Nanaimo in the last two years.

The polls are open from noon to 8 p.m. Friday to Monday for the May 6 Nanaimo-Ladysmith federal byelection. Voting locations can be found on the back of your voting card.

Seven candidates are on the ballot in hopes of filling the seat left vacant by Sheila Malcolmson, who quit her MP position for the New Democratic Party to represent Nanaimo in the provincial legislature.

The vote was mandated by Elections Canada, despite there being another general election is scheduled this fall.
