PARKSVILLE — Oceanside Mounties are investigating the bizarre case of a senior pretending to be a police officer.

Police were called to downtown Qualicum Beach shortly after midnight on April 17 after a security guard was approached by a man between the ages of 75 and 80.

“She reported that there were red and blue flashing lights from the vehicle and the gentleman who came to her door with a flashlight had shirt that said POLICE on it in bold writing,” Oceanside RCMP Cpl. Jesse Foreman told NanaimoNewsNOW.

Foreman said the suspicious man asked to see the security guard’s lisense before he quickly left. He said the man was driving a dark-coloured SUV.
