Cougars bite Bucs' late in Game 6 to take the series

NANAIMO — The season is over for the Nanaimo Buccaneers after a 4-3 loss to the Victoria Cougars last night in Game 6 at the Pirate Ship.

The Bucs' had a 3-2 lead going into the third period but the Cougars scored two unanswered goals in the final frame to seal the win.

Spring weather brings paddlers from Nanaimo Canoe/Kayak Club out on Long Lake

NANAIMO – Spring officially arrived this week and local paddlers are already out on Long Lake.

The Nanaimo Canoe/Kayak Club has over 800 people who participate in summer camps and other programs, and the Sprint Youth Racing Team has 22 members who train as many as nine times a week.

Cougars tie VIJHL semi-final at 2 after 5-1 win

NANAIMO — The Buccaneers and Victoria Cougars are now embroiled in a best-of-3 to determine who will advance to the VIJHL final.

The Victoria Cougars recorded a 5-1 victory Sunday night at the Nanaimo Ice Centre to square the best-of-7 league semi-final at 2 games apiece.
