NANAIMO — One year after their community was devastated by the news of the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy, Nanaimo hockey players are banding together once again.

NANAIMO —A BC Supreme Court trial in Nanaimo involving guns, drugs and violence came to an abrupt end when the criminal at the heart of the matter pleaded guilty.

NANAIMO —Police are trying to find a man accused of stealing four rings from a Woodgrove Centre store worth thousands of dollars.

RCMP said the rings were stolen on April 10 at 5 p.m. from Mappins Jewellers.

Up to eight people can be helped by the donation of one pair of eyes.

Nanaimo leads B.C. in life-changing eye donations

NANAIMO — The gift of sight has been granted to hundreds thanks to the efforts of a Nanaimo Hospital unit clerk.

Judy Cook said she saw the harm being done by a shortage of enucleation technicians at the hospital as numerous eye donation requests were being turned away.

Campaign launched to improve colon cancer care at Nanaimo Hospital

NANAIMO — A new cancer detecting suite at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital is hoped to save lives by attacking a lengthy wait list.

The Nanaimo and District Hospital Foundation launched a new $1.5 million campaign to expand capacity primarily geared toward colonoscopies.
